How does a ‘burru’ become a ‘berg’?

One of the previous owners Pittencrief House in front of you was the Forbes family, John Forbes (1707-1759 fought in French and Indian War (1754-1763) with the credit of winning the battle and taking control of Fort Duquesne. As a patriotic Brit, he named the area after current Secretary of State William Pitt the Elder adding the scots word for town to become Pittsburgh [pitts-berg] has anyone ever called it [pitts-burru]?

Latterly the house acted as a local museum, the town opened a new museum in 2017 at Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries on Abbott Street where stories of Dunfermline and area are taken up further.
