The Old Inn

Dunfermline’s population in 1961 was 45,000, the population of Valencia in 1970 was over 650,000 but the story of the wee team from Fife match against Valencia in December 1962 in the European Challenge cup is legendary.

Footage of the match can be seen on YouTube below,  when a 6-2 home victory levelled an away loss of 4-0. A play-off had to be arranged the next month.

The local team’s international days of travel have reduced but they continue to attract international players and draw a strong, loyal crowd of 5000 for home matches, roughly 10% of Dunfermline’s population.

The football club was formed in the Old Inn pub in 1885 and the walls include memorabilia from the club’s past. Catch a game at East End Park, a short walk from here or visit the Club’s shop to take home some memorabilia from this giant killer side.

As we move to the next location have a listen to this clackety sound, can you guess what sound is from?
